October 4 Bike Ride

Hello Summit Bikers,

Next weeks ride, October 4, will be the Green Mountain Reservoir. The start of the ride is at the intersection of Route 9 and Heeney Road, approximately 20 miles north of Silverthorne. Plan to be ready to ride at 9:30 am. Most of the parking is on route 9 at the intersection with Heeney Road. Be careful crossing route 9 as it is a busy road. Heeney Road is not very busy but it is a road with some traffic and people are encouraged to ride single file near the shoulder. This is the only Summit County ride with rolling hills as you ride on the west side of the reservoir.  Pay attention as there are some pot holes and a rough spot or two.  Polly Koch will be heading up this ride.  This is the last schedule Monday ride of the season.

Riders that want to socialize afterwards can meet at North Pond in Silverthorne. Bring a sandwich and drink and socialize about the summer and your winter plans.  North Pond is across from the elementary school at the corner of Hamilton Creek Road and Route 9.  Be sure to wear name tags, especially at North Pond.

Stay safe until next year and keep riding.

Ride safe!

Fw: [Summit Biking] Ride September 27

Hello Summit Bikers,

Our former president and his wife (Norm and Renee) has asked us to bring a sandwich and something to drink over to his house after our ride tomorrow.  He lives near where we will be parking so you can ride your bike over.  His message follows.  See you tomorrow.

John Bowyer

John,
Renee and I would be more than happy to have the Monday group return to our house
following the Vail Pass ride. There is parking available on our street and in some neighbors driveways., or just bike over.
102A Riverside Place.  If  you like the idea, feel free to forward it to the group.

Hello Summit Bikers,

I was told that parking at the West End of Frisco is very tight due to the large number of visitors in town.  I suggest getting to the parking a little early and if full park along Main Street.  I checked it out and found many spaces open on the left side of Main Street close to the West End parking lot.  It looks like it will be a beautiful day for a ride.  See you there at 11.

Ride Safe,

Ride September 27

Hello Summit Bikers,

The season is winding down but we still have a couple of rides.  Next Monday's ride will be to Vail Pass, starting at the West End of Frisco parking lot (near exit 201 off I70) at 11 am.  This is to avoid the construction area in Frisco. The leaves along Ten Mile Creek are near peak so this should be a scenic ride.  Riders are encouraged to bring a sandwich and drink to enjoy after the ride, while socializing.  Hope to see you there.

Ride Safe!

RE: September 20 Bike Ride-TIME CHANGE DUE TO COLD TEMPS

Please note that due to the chilly forecast in the morning, the rides from Georgetown are being changed to 11a for Guanella and noon for Loveland Ski Area.  While the precipitation forecast is much better than just a few days ago, (45% down to 1%), the temps are now going to be around 35 degrees at 9a but all the way up to 40 degrees by 11a! So dress accordingly and bring you A-Game!

Hello Summit Bikers;

Our next ride is this Monday ,September 20. It starts in Georgetown at  either 9 or 10 am and will go to either Loveland Ski Area or Guanella Pass.

The Guanella riders should arrive at 9a so they can be back around the same time as the others for lunch at the Cabin Creek Brewery in Georgetown.

Parking is available along the street in front of the visitor center.  We have been requested not to park in the visitor center parking lot.  The Aspen trees should be near peak so this will be a good ride.

Monday September 13 Ride

 Hi All Summit Biking Members:

Our next ride will be to Breckenridge and over Swan Mountain, starting at the Dillon Amphitheater Parking lot at 10 am on Monday, September 13.  The time change is due to the colder weather we start to experience in mid September.  The plan is to ride to Breckenridge (City Market) and return over Swan Mountain counter clockwise to the start.  People are encouraged to bring a sandwich and a drink to enjoy with their friends overlooking the lake.  Anyone wanting to bring something to share feel free.

Thanks,

Bill and Jeanne
