Annual Meeting Change and August 1 Ride

Hello Summit Bikers,

There are several changes to the published rides over the next few weeks.  The annual meeting will be held August 22.  In order to leave time for the meeting the ride that day will be to Montezuma.  Several other rides have been changed and they can be found on the web site or just wait and be surprised when the weekly email comes out.

Next Monday, August 1 we will once again venture outside Summit County to East Vail.  The ride will be from Big Horn Park, starting at 10 am.  For those who would like to carpool meet at the west end of Frisco at the parking lot at 9 am.  Carpools are recommended as parking is tight.  Multiple rides are available from Big Horn, including West Vail Pass and the Gore Trail through Vail and onto Minturn or Edwards.  If the chance of rain is high, I will put out an email Sunday evening.  Big Horn Park is a nice setting for a Group potluck picnic and to socialize bring something to share as well as a sandwich and drink.  This route has a lot of construction going on; however, the bike path is still open.  Riders will have to pay attention and use caution, especially on the way down

Directions to Big Horn Park: Go West to exit 180 in East Vail. Get off on the right and turn left going under I-70 on Bighorn Road. Go right on Streamside Circle. Stay on Streamside Circle and turn right on Meadow Drive. Bighorn Park is on the left ahead.

Remember the tourist are in town (Vail also gets many downhill riders), slow down and do not cut corners.  Use hand signals and let others verbally know where you are.

Ride safe and have fun!
