Fw: [Summit Biking] October 2 Ride -- Starting at 10:30am

For those people paying attention I did mean October 2 for the next Summit Biking ride.

John Bowyer

Hello Summit Bikers,

I was waiting to be sure the weather was going to clear by Monday.  It appears it will but we need to start late as the mornings are so cold.

Next weeks ride, October 2, will be the Green Mountain Reservoir. The start of the ride is at the intersection of Route 9 and Heeney Road, approximately 20 miles north of Silverthorne. Plan to be ready to ride at 10:30 am. Most of the parking is on route 9 at the intersection with Heeney Road. Be careful crossing route 9 as it is a busy road. Heeney Road is not very busy but it is a road with some traffic and people are encouraged to ride single file near the shoulder.   Pay attention as there are some pot holes and a rough spot or two.

Afterwords, we will have a picnic at North Pond in Silverthorne. North Pond is across from the elementary school at the corner of Hamilton Creek Road and Route 9. Please bring something to share with your friends, whatever you want to drink and something to grill as we will have a grill.

This will be my final ride of the season.  It has been a great year of riding in the high country.

No Ride September 25

Hello Summit Biking,

I have been watching the weather and Monday September 23 looks cold and rainy.  Hopefully we will get another ride or two in but this time of year you never know.  I suggest if it looks like you have an opening between storms jump on the bike and see what is left of the leaves.

Bike Ride September 18

Hello Summit Bikers,

This beautiful fall weather will not be here for long, so we need to take advantage of it.  Next weeks ride September 18 will start from our house, 1512 Legend Lake Circle Silverthorne 80498.  We will ride either on the Blue River Trail up the dam and on to Montezuma, returning for a picnic on our back deck. Plan to be ready to ride at 9:30.  There will be a grill so plan to bring something to cook, as well as something to share.

Ride safe!

Bike Ride September 11 Change

Hello Summit Bikers,

Do to a high chance of rain we need to move todays ride to North Pond in Silverthorne, starting at 10 am.  There are a number of rides that we can do from there and we will have good shelter for our picnic. I will announce some options then.  Plan to complete your ride by 12:30.  We will not have a grill, however bring a dish to share, as well as a sandwich and a drink.

September 11 Ride

Hello Summit Bikers,

Next weeks ride has several options, including Guanella Pass, Loveland Ski Area or Idaho Springs.  Be ready to ride at 10 am from next to the Georgetown Visitor Center along Argentine Road (take exit 228 off I 70).  Parking is available along Argentine Road as the visitor center asked us not to take up all their parking.  Since there are no grills bring a sandwich and a drink for after the ride during our social hour following the ride as well as a dish to share with your friends. The picnic will start around 12:15, although the Guanella Pass riders may need more time. The road to Guanella Pass has been chipped sealed and is rough to ride down.

If the weather does not look good for Monday I will send out an email, late Sunday.

Ride safe!
