Bike Trip April 30 to May 5

Hello Summit Bikers,
I have been asked to send you the following about an upcoming trip.  There are many road biking possibilities in the area and this makes a good early season ride.

Hello Fellow Bikers;

As many of you know, the Summit Mountain biking group has been going to Moab for a week long trip in late April or early May for many years.  This years trip will be April 30 to May 5. In the past we have had some of the road biking group join us on the trip when space was available. The two couples that I know of joining us, Joan & Brian and Fran & Barry could probably give you some feedback on their experiences staying with us. This year we have two open rooms, one with a queen bed and one with a double bunk.

This year we will be staying at the Entrada condos. They are brand new. They are in town about a 10 – 15 minute walk to the town core. You can see the units here: http://entradaatmoab.com/   Lance Kidd & I were both broken last year, so we had time to do some looking around & were able to get into one of the four bedroom units. The unit we saw was well furnished and spacious.

I have three 4 bedroom / 3 bath units reserved. Two of them, units 631 & 635 share a common wall with double doors that can be opened to make one large unit. The other unit is nearby. Pricing for the 5 day stay will be $495 for either of the two open rooms.

As in the past, we will have three ride levels for the mountain biking group daily. If you have any interest in trying mountain biking, Moab, despite its reputation for extreme riding has some very easy but still entertaining riding with very few rocks on mostly buff single track. Some of those trails will be included in our lowest level ride schedule.

There are usually several hikes or road bike rides that are loosely organized by the non-mountain bikers in the group and mountain bikers in need of a day off.

We will have two cost meals at the condos and a sunset meal on Friday evening. We also have a happy hour every day at the condos prior to dinner. We welcome the campers in our group to the happy hours & the sunset meal, but not to the cost meals.

If you have any interest in joining us or need some more information about the trip please contact me.

E-bikes on Recpath Survey

Hello Summit Bikers,

State Law now allow counties to determine the use of e-bikes on recpaths.  Summit County is in the process of deciding what they should do (hopefully across jurisdictions).  Until March 19 you can take a survey to provide your comments.   The web site to read more about E-bikes and take the survey is summitcountyco.gov/ebikes.  Summit Biking encourages all of our members to provide their comments on this issue.  The process of deciding what to do and then having it adopted by the County as well as the various towns will be lengthy, so do not expect any quick changes.

Current law allows anyone who considers themselves disable to use e-bikes.  You do not have to have a doctors evaluation to be in compliance.  This is unlikely to change.

Spring is close, get those bikes ready!
