Co-Chair Needed for Circle the Summit

Circle the Summit has been the main fund raiser to improve cycling in Summit County.  In 2013 there are a number of major efforts under way to improve cycling including paving the East side of Vail Pass and building a recpath up Fremont Pass.  In addition, planning is underway for a recpath to the Hoosier Pass summit connecting to a recpath from South Park (likely a multi phase project similar to the Swan Mtn Path).  While we are not sure where private funds will be required we anticipate they will be.  As we begin planning our 2013 Circle The Summit ride we need assistance in the food and beverage area.  A committee chair person has been identified but in order to share the work load one or two co-chairs are needed.  Since this is the sixth year most contacts have been made and methodologies developed.  It is not necessary that you have food and beverage experience, just that you are willing to put some time in to ensure the Sixth Annual Bob Guthrie Circle the Summit Ride is as successful as the past rides.  It would be helpful to be in Summit County most of the time.

If you are ready to assist, or have questions please email John Bowyer at bikebreck@yahoo.com.

US Pro Challenge is Back!

The 2013 edition of the USA Pro Challenge cycling race is returning to Summit County for the third year in a row; this time for both a stage finish and the next day's stage start!

The race will start August 19 with a circuit in the Aspen/Snowmass area. Stage 2 on Tuesday, August 20 will start in Aspen and finish in Breckenridge. Wednesday's Stage 3 will run from Breckenridge to Steamboat Springs. Also, the Vail Time Trial is back for 2013. The full list of host cities and stages is here: Route | USA Pro Challenge

Having the teams overnight in Summit County will be a real plus for visitors. At the same time, hosting both a start and a finish will be a new level of opportunity, effort and commitment by and for all of Summit County. Barry & Fran have again committed to organize the volunteers and I have agreed to co-chair the Local Organizing Committee. Please mark your calendars and plan to help make this a success.

October 8 Ride

Hello Summit Bikers,

This week, October 8 we will meet at the Frisco Marina for a show and go ride.  Due to the very cold mornings I suggest meeting at 11 am.  Show and go means that participants meet and select the ride they want to do and go.  A suggestion is to ride over the dam and down the rec-path through Silverthorne to the elementary school.  At that point the group can go towards Hamilton Creek and those that want can to climb can continue to ride up, while others may want to retrace their route back to Frisco.  Due to the small numbers this time of year we will not have a picnic.

As I will be leaving for a fall vacation October 13 this is the last email of the season.  For those that want to ride on Mondays, if the weather is nice, meet at the Frisco Marina at 11 am and continue to do the show and go rides until things get to rough.

Use signals, ride safe and have fun.

September 30 Ride

Hello Summit Bikers,

As most of you realized the weather was not great last week and although a few did show up and ride. We are going to try the ride again next Monday.  We will meet at the Dillon Amplitheatre for a ride around the lake with an extension to Copper for the faster group.  Plan to meet ready to ride at 10 am. This will allow it to warm up a little. We will have picnic afterward (around 12 to 12:15) with a grill so plan to bring something to cook as well as to share with others.

Use hand signals, ride safe and have fun!

This is the last ride on the schedule for the year, however others may be held if the weather holds.  A survey is planned shortly to get feedback from the group on changes we made this year so please respond when requested.

Monday Ride Changed to Tuesday September 18

Several people have said it would be better to move this weeks ride to Tuesday, September 18, therefor that is what we are going to do.  All the details stay the same.

Next weeks ride will be the Green Mountain Reservoir. The start of the ride is at the intersection of Route 9 and Heeney Road, approximately 20 miles north of Silverthorne. Plan to be ready to ride at 10:00 am. Most of the parking is on route 9 at the intersection with Heeney Road. Be careful crossing route 9 as it is a busy road. Heeney Road is not very busy but it is a road with some traffic and people are encouraged to ride single file near the shoulder. This is the only Summit County ride with rolling hills as you ride on the west side of the reservoir. Bob Giordano will be riding from his house at 9 am and others are invited to park there if they want the extra distance. I plan to be riding and be at the intersection of Route 9 and Heeney Road.
There will be a picnic at Bob's house (175 Game Creek Trail) after the ride. He will have a grill available so plan to bring something for lunch, to share with your friends as well as something to drink. To get to Bob's house, coming back from Green Mountain Reservoir, turn right on Ranch Road and left on Game Trail. His number if you need it is 468-2515.
Remember to use hand signals, ride safe and have fun!

Hello Summit Bikers,

Next weeks ride will be from Idaho Springs to Georgetown and back. Some riders may want to go on to either Silver Plume or Loveland Ski Area and return. We will meet at the Courtney Riley Cooper Park in Idaho Spring at 10 a.m. ready to ride. To get to the park take exit 240 from I 70, turn left on 13 Ave (towards town). At Colorado Boulevard go right. The park is on the left next to the creek. The drive takes about 45 minutes. We will have a grill so bring something to cook and something to share with your friends. As always bring what you would like to drink.

As I am still on the road to recovery Bob Giordano has agreed to lead this ride.

Monday Ride

No official Monday ride for Summit Biking, and no picnic. We are having a bit of a warmup, so the 9AM start for the ride I will be doing is good.  This ride will be from Dillon Amphitheatre Parking Lot, up Montezuma, then back over Swan mountain and back around the lake to the parking lot.

My pace will be roughly a B-pace, 14 to 16mph. Slower riders are welcome, but you will need to form your own group at the start.  Slower riders may also want to only go to Montezuma and back.

This is my last ride of the Summit County Summer.  It has been wonderful.  Thanks to all of you for your support.  See you in the skiing season.

UPDATE UPDATE Friday, US Pro Cycling

I just talked to the Blue River Town Clerk.  We are confirmed to have the use of the parking lot.  However, she learned at a Tuesday meeting, that the Route 9 south will be closed at 8:30, not 10AM.  We will have to be at the lot before 8:30, and can plan our ride up to Hoosier then.

So, see you at 8:30AM for the ride to the pass.

The activities and issues can not be totally predictable.  I saw a couple stages last year.  The Swan Mountain scene was chaotic to say the least.  Hoosier Pass may have similar issues.  With the 10:50 race start, expect the  peloton to be nearly intact at the Pass and will go through quickly.  Our best viewing sight may be before the peak of the pass, better view of the switchbacks.

CDOT is reported Route 9 closure being at 10AM.  I suspect we, on bikes will be allowed on a bit longer, but we should not count on it.  As soon as the ride cars start going through, we will not want to be riding, believe me.  So, I suggest we be in our viewing place by 10AM.  The ride time for most of us from the Blue River Town Hall will be 30 to 45 minutes. Let's leave the Blue River Town Hall at 9AM.  If you plan to take one of the 15 parking spaces, be there in time to ride by 9AM.  Have a backup plan, if the lot is full.  Riding to the Blue River Town Hall is about 45 minutes for an A Rider, longer for others.

Bring a backpack with:  Beverages, Food, Bike locks, suntan lotion, clothing for variable weather, shoes.  Anything else?  Extra battery for cell phone?  Don't forget medical identification.

I will be leaving Silverthorne by 7:15AM, and have room for one more cyclist.  We can meet at the Transit Center's parking lot at 7:15. Call or email to car pool with me.  Then I will drive to Blue River Town Hall.  If/when the lot is full, I will send out an email alert.  Smart phones will be handy. Also, there is a smartphone AP that will let you view a live video of the activities in Breck and towards us at the Pass.

Monday Ride

John has posted the ride to start from Idaho Springs at 10AM, which is very reasonable for a 30 to 40 mile ride to Georgetown or Silver Plume.  I want to ride further on the newer path towards Loveland Ski area, and plan to start that ride at 9AM.  Anyone who wants to start then, please, show and go with me.  I will have space to car pool for one person from Silverthorne, leaving from the Transfer Station Parking lot at 8:10AM.  Email or call me if you would like to go along.

August 20 & 24 Rides

Hello Summit Bikers,

Next week we have rides planned for Monday and Wednesday.  On Monday the ride will be from Idaho Springs to Georgetown and beyond.  Those that would like can ride all the way to Loveland Ski Area.  Plan to be ready to ride at 10 am from the parking lot near Buffalo Restaurant.  To get there go east on I-70 to exit 240.  Go left as you get off this exit on to 13th Ave.  After two blocks turn right on Miner Street.  Turn right on 17th Ave.  Park in the lot near Water Street between 16th Ave and 17th Ave.  Form groups as you arrive back in town for lunch at the Buffalo Restaurant.  Bring a lock for your bike while inside.

On Friday August 24 for the Pro Cycle Tour Summit Biking has 15 parking spots (please carpool) reserved at Blue River Town Hall.  Plan to meet at 8:30 ready to ride up Hoosier Pass.  I checked this out in May and from several spots going up Hoosier Pass you will be able to see 4 or 5 hair pin turns as the riders proceed on their most challenging climb of the day.  The Pro Ride leaves Breckenridge at 9:30 am, circles the town twice before heading south to Hoosier Pass.  The plan is for everyone to be at the top of the pass by around 10 am in time for the pro riders to come through.  Particularly nice, the road will be closed for a large part of the time we are climbing. You must get off the road if the lead state police car catches you before you get to the top. If you ride down shortly after the pro riders and chase cars pass you will probably get back to Town Hall before the road opens again, since the state police will have to keep the road closed until the riders pass Alma.

On Monday August 27 there will be no ride.

Ride safe and have fun!

Wednesday Morning Ride

August 13, 2012

This ride will include more than half of the Circle the Summit Century, starting from Dillon.

We will leave at 9AM from the Dillon Amphitheatre, heading north, down the switchbacks to Silverthorne, out past the Elementary School to Ute Pass.  Those interested in picking up the ride from the elementary school, be ready for us at 9:20.

We will return to the Dillon Amphitheatre, then head over Swan Mountain.  If I have enough energy and strength, I will continue to Copper, and perhaps up Vail Pass and return to Dillon over the dam.

Round trip to Ute Pass and back to Dillon is 40 miles.(possible, but I will probably go longer)
Add on ride around the Lake over Swan Mountain, 56 miles (most probable)
Go to Copper, instead, and back to Dillon over the Dam, is 69 miles (this is a maybe)
Go all the way to Vail Pass and back to Dillon over the Dam, 81 miles. (this is not likely)

There will be no Friday ride.  It is still not too late to register for the Circle the Summit, on Saturday.

Summit Biking -- August 13 Ride

Hello Summit Bikers,

On Monday August 13 there will be a dedication ceremony to rename the Swan Mountain section of the recpath for Bob Guthrie at 10 am at Summit Cove where the Swan Mountain section meets the Lowery Section.  This is next to the trailer park at the bottom of the Swan Mountain Section.  In order to coincide our Monday ride with the dedication it has been revised.  For the newer people Bob Guthrie was one of the founders of Summit Biking and did much throughout the county.  His loss was a major loss for the county and Summit Biking.  It is hoped that all members can make this event.

Plan to meet at Dillon Amplitheatre at 9:30 am ready to ride.  We will then ride down as a group to the dedication ceremony.  Once the ceremony is over complete the ride over Swan Mountain and around Lake Dillon.  The faster group can add a side trip up to Breckenridge and back through Frisco.  We will have a grill at the picnic so plan to bring something to cook as well as to share with your friends and a drink.

Remember to use hand signals and ride safe.

Friday's Ride

A change of venue!!!

Ever hear of Guanella Pass Road out of Georgetown?  Fran and Barry have organized a ride on this, from what I hear is a fantastic ride.  Newly reconstructed and repaved!  Several lakes are along the way.  We have been invited to join them.  " We are leaving Frisco and Silverthorne at 8am and meeting at the parking lot across from The Happy Cooker in Georgetown.  Fran "

I plan to be there before 8:30AM, and I have room in my car for one more rider.  Email me!

Because we do not want to leave anyone behind, please RSVP to my email address below.  This is an out and back ride, with a lot of climbing, some grades are in the excess of 10 or 12%.  I am not sure of the distance.

And of course, lunch after.  Bring money.

Google the map, and look at the Earthview.

I am riding a B-paced ride from Dillon Amphitheatre Parking lot, leaving at 9AM, tomorrow, August 8th.  Most likely route will be up Montezuma, back over the Swan Mountain and around the lake.

All are welcome, but C-riders should have their own group.

Monday Group Rides

Comments and feedback we have received suggest we have done a poor job of communicating and implementing the option for people to ride in designated groups if they so desire on our Monday rides. There never was any intent to eliminate the opportunity for everyone to ride their own route at their own pace with whomever they might prefer, but rather to provide an additional option for those who prefer a more organized group or are new to our group and would appreciate some ride partners.

As always, everyone is welcome to take their own route and meet back for the Pot Luck as always. In addition there normally will be leaders available if anyone is new or otherwise would prefer to ride with a more structured group. Summit Biking strives to be an inclusive group that welcomes a range of cycling preferences and objectives.

We appreciate the feedback. Keep it coming!

Independence Pass Ride

Sy Katz mentioned that he and several others are planning to ride from twin lakes to Aspen and back on Wed. Aug. 8. Other Summit Bikers are welcome to join them. the ride can be shortened by going to the summit of Independence pass and back to Twin Lakes rather than all the way to Aspen. They plan to start at 9:00 in Twin Lakes. Weather predicted to be warm and dry. Contact Sy at skskatz@comcast.net for more information.

Wednesday, August 1

Friday Morning

How about a 40 to 45 mile ride in the direction of Breck, leaving from the Dillon Amphitheatre at 9AM.  I mapped out a ride over Swan Mountain, to Tiger Road, up and down the hill at Estates Drive, then up and over the Highlands.  Then follow up Airport Road, toward Route 9 south. Depending on our mileage and weather, we could go as far as Blue River, but that looks like it might be more than 50 miles by the time we return to the high school, and path up to the Hospital, north on the Peninsula, across the dam and back to the start.

This will be a B-paced ride, with frequent regrouping.   C-paced riders may be dropped, so if you join us, bring a couple friends for your pace. You can also eliminate some of the hill climbs by going directly into Breck, instead of Tiger Road.

So, meet at 8:45, click and roll at 9.

Summit Biking -- August 6 Ride

We will once again venture outside Summit County to East Vail and attempt once again to either do the Vail Pass or Vail Trail. The ride will be from Big horn Park in East Vail, starting at 9:30am.  There will be a grill available so plan to bring something to cook, a drink and a dish to share with your friends. For those who would like to car pool meet at the west end of Frisco at the parking lot at 8:50 am.  Multiple rides are available from Big Horn, including West Vail Pass and the Vail Trail trough Vail and on to Minturn.

Directions to Big Horn Park: Go West to exit 180 in East Vail. Get off on the right and turn left going under I-70 on Bighorn Road. Go right on Streamside Circle. Stay on Streamside Circle and turn right on Meadow Drive. Bighorn Park is on the left ahead.

Remember to use those hand signals and ride safe.

Wednesday Morning Ride

Let's meet at 8:45 AM at the Dillon Amphitheatre Parking Lot, and ride at 9.  Another ride up to Montezuma and back, maybe for pizza at Jersey Boys.

This will be a B-paced ride.  C-riders may want to bring some friends along, and elect a C-ride leader.  A-riders are welcome to do the same, or ride with the slower group.

Unfortunately, we did drop a rider on Friday's trek to East Vail, sorry Bob.

Any suggestions for Friday?  We could drive to Idaho Springs or Georgetown to ride up to Loveland ski area and back.  A 9 AM ride start should get us back to Summit County before most of the Friday traffic, or we could save this ride for next Wednesday.

Tuesday Youth Program Presentation

The last of this summer's Summit Biking Youth Program gatherings is tomorrow, Tuesday, July 31 at 9am at Podium Sports in Frisco. The program before the ride is a presentation, discussion and Q&A by Bontrager/Livestrong Professional Team head mechanic Eric Fosvedt.

Bontrager/Livestrong is one of the most successful pro continental development teams in the US. The team is lead by Eddy Merckx's son Axel, and you'll see them riding in the Pro Cycling Challenge!  Eric's presentation will help us learn more about bike mechanics & maintenance so we can keep our bikes in the best possible shape.

All Summit Biking members and friends are welcome to attend both the presentation and the ride. It's a wonderful opportunity to learn and to meet the kids involved in our Youth Program. Podium also offers great discounts to all Summit Biking members.

Silverthorne Ballot Issue

The upcoming Silverthorne voter Eminent Domain voter referendum indirectly could have an impact on the future development of the Silverthorne rec path system. As such the Summit Biking Board of Directors developed the following Fact Sheet for members for whom it would be helpful to clarify what a YES or NO vote on the issue means.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Silverthorne Summit Biking Members/Voters - August 14th election (Ballot Issue #1) affects the completion of the Silverthorne rec path system

One of Summit Biking's ongoing priorities is to enhance recreational bicycling opportunities in Summit County.  We've worked tirelessly to create a comprehensive and quality bike path system throughout the county and we will continue our efforts to improve and maintain this system.

A ballot issue (Ballot Question #1) regarding the town of Silverthorne's power of Eminent Domain is coming up on their August 14th election which could affect the potential completion of the Silverthorne rec path (formally known as "The Blue River Trail System").

Voting "YES" on Ballot Issue #1 would change the law to require the citizens to vote on each eminent domain issue regarding private property, such as the Blue River Trail, as it arises.

Voting "NO" on Ballot Issue #1 leaves the current law intact and allows the Town of Silverthorne to retain its current eminent domain powers regarding private property.

The result of a majority YES vote on this ballot issue would be to significantly delay or possibly prevent the completion of the Blue River Trail Segment 5 from the Silverthorne Elementary School to where it joins the main county rec path at the Dillon Dam.

Friday and Monday

Friday, let's try another ride up Vail Pass, to Black Lakes, etc.  Depending on who shows up, we could ride down to the old Route 6, maybe down to East Vail, or even Vail Village for lunch.  Starting point, same as last week, the west end parking lot of Frisco, at 9AM.  This is the west exit lot off I-70.  This is a show and go ride, and we will not leave anyone behind.  No drops, frequent re-grouping, and concern for all needs, including mechanical problems or just not as much energy as the stronger ones.  We ride, not race.  Group fun is good fun.

Monday:

Slight change on timing.  Ride from North Pond to Ute Pass is about 10 miles.  I expect our pace line to go out at 22 mph.  I am leaving at 8:55AM, not 8:30AM.  Those looking for a slower pace, please leave at 8:30AM.  We start the ride up Ute Pass at 9:30AM.

Picnic back at the North Pond facility.

July 30 Bike Ride

Hello Summit Bikers,

This weeks ride is to Ute Pass.  There will be two starting points; North Pond in Silverthorne starting at 8:30 am (A group riders -- faster group perhaps with pace line) or from the bottom of Ute Pass road at 9:30 am (where Ute Pass intersects Route 9).   A picnic will follow the ride at North Pond with a grill available for cooking.  Plan to bring what you would like to grill as well as something to share with your friends.  North Pond is located across from the elementary school on the right side of route 9 as you are headed North (intersection of Hamilton Creek and Route 9).

Ride safe

Monday July 23 Ride

Just a reminder!  Still no grill, as I am handling both the ride and the picnic stuff.  Ready to click and roll at 9:30AM

A ride group to go from the Amphitheatre Parking Lot, over Swan Mountain, to Vail Pass and the Black Lakes.  I will look for a volunteer leader to keep the group connected as much as possible, considering the 12 mile climb.

B ride group to head out to Montezuma.  I will lead this group.

C ride group to circle Lake Dillon, clockwise. Again, a volunteer to keep the group together would be appreciated.

C- ride group, if desired,  to head to River Run and back.

See you all tomorrow at 9:15AM.

July 23 Bike Ride

Posted: 17 Jul 2012 04:59 PM PDT

There is a change to the July 23 ride.  Plan to meet at theAmphiteatre Parking Lot in Dillon for rides to be determined.  There still will be no grill but plan to bring a sandwich, a dish to share with your friends and something to drink.  Plan to be at the parking lot ready to ride at 9:30.  Al Wambah has once again offered to lead ride and coordinate the groups.

We will divide up into three groups.  The A group will generally be the fastest group (averaging 15 to 17 mph). The B group will be the moderate group (averaging 12 to 15 mph). The C group will be for all others. The plan is to make sure everyone has a compatible group to ride with.

Sorry for the late change but I am still unable to ride and it was difficult to find leaders for a Vail ride.

Friday's Ride, some changes

Hello everyone,

Thanks for the great ride today to Ute Pass, lots of fun, 26 of us by my count.

Friday's ride is a bit different than some of us chatted about.

We will meet at the parking lot at West Frisco, off the west exit from I-70 at 9AM.  This ride will head west to Copper, Vail Pass, past the Black Lakes, and all the way down to Vail.  We could find a lunch in East Vail, or Vail Village -- any suggestions?  After a (light lunch on my part) head back up Vail Pass, and back to Frisco. Timing of lunch and time in Vail may be weather dependent.  Bring rain gear for sure.

Again thanks for not bringing any musical headphones.  Much better and safer for the group ride scenario.

All we need are some lunch suggestions.  All I really know is Sweet Basil, and that is probably over the top for the bike ride.

New Incentive for Wednesday Ride (tomorrow)

Bob Gilson will join us tomorrow, and has invited us over to his place after for some homemade ice cream.  See you all tomorrow.

A bunch of us decided that we would do Ute Pass on Wednesday at 9AM.  This week we will meet at the Ponds, just south side of the road at the Silverthorne Elementary School.  Rest rooms and less concern about parking on the School District property.

This could be a quick ride to the Ute Pass road, with a little pacing.  Expect a B/B+ pace in general.  About 30 miles total.  Extra credit for those who go down to the Henderson Mill, and to the end of the pavement (but do not expect me!).  Again, we will regroup as necessary.  I do not condone musical things from your ears on group rides. We need to chatter and communicate.  Safety is still Number 1.  Conversation is Number 2.

Bicycling directions to Ute Pass Rd 3D
Buffalo St/Co Rd 1900/Hamilton Creek Rd
    1. Head northwest on Buffalo St/Co Rd 1900/Hamilton Creek Rd toward Blue River Pkwy
    289 ft
    2. Turn right onto CO-9 N/Blue River Pkwy
    Continue to follow CO-9 N
    10.2 mi
    3. Turn right onto Ute Pass Rd
    5.2 mi
    Ute Pass Rd
Round trip is 30+/- miles, unless you start from home, which I will do.  Any questions?? Give me a call, or email me.

Fwd: Summit Biking Group

Just a reminder!  If you want to car pool, it is 8:45 at the parking lot in the west end of Frisco.

Considering the terrain of the ride, even counter-clockwise, we have a 5 mile climb that will break up initial groupings.  We will not regroup during this climb, until the peak.  It will be more difficult to separate  the A, B, C's and keep the group together.  I suspect a more successful grouping will be picking 5 to 10 co-riders that you will re-group with.  It will be important for several designated sweepers, to insure non are left behind, either from pace, or mechanical breakdowns.  We will go out in the A, B, C's, but I suggest a regroup within 5 miles, and see who is at your pace.  Then pick 5 to 10 "buddies" for you to keep track of for the rest of the ride.  We will not assign leaders at the start, but use this as a Buddy ride instead.

July 16 Ride

Posted: 11 Jul 2012 08:48 AM PDT

Hello Summit Bikers,

This weeks ride takes us out of the county to Turquiose Lake near Leadville. This is beautiful ride with great views of the lake and the mountains around it. Please be ready to ride at 10 am. We will meet at the Maid of Erin parking area. To get there take route 91 at the Copper exit toward Leadville. As you enter Leadville there will be a Safeway on your right and a stop light. Take a right at the stop light (Mountain View Drive) and follow the signs toward the golf course. As you near the golf course there are signs for Turquiose Lake. Follow these until you reach road 9C, take a right here and the Maid of Erin Parking area is on the left. (If you reach the dam you have driven past the turn.) There is a $5 fee, reduced for those with Access Cards. Fee envelopes are available as you enter the parking area. Please bring a pen to complete the envelope. If this area is full there is free parking near the dam (which is a short bike ride or walk back to the picnic area). To reach the dam go out of the Maid of Erin parking area and take the first right, go past the road you drove in on and park on the right just before the dam. To walk back to the picnic area after the ride follow the path along the lake, it takes about 5 minutes.
I normally ride counter clockwise, control my speed and look ahead for potential problems. Since this is a circle those that want a shorter ride should plan to turn around.
Due to the lake of rain and the fire bans we will not have a grill so plan to bring a sandwich as well as a dish to share with your friends and a drink.
Since this out of the County we will start slightly latter. Those that would like to car pool are encouraged to meet at the west end of Frisco in the parking lot at 8:45.
Al Wambach has agreed to lead this ride and will be looking for some others to assist when the groups split up.  The A group will generally be the fastest group (averaging 15 to 17 mph). The B group will be the moderate group (averaging 12 to 15 mph). The C group will be for all others. The plan is to make sure everyone has a compatible group to ride with.
Ride safe and have fun!  Remember to use hand signals so others can anticipate your move.

For those that are wondering my injury is healing nicely and I expect to be able to ride sometime in September.
