Fw: 2 Rides - LOOKING FOR CAPTAINS SEPT 13 AND SEPT 21

Hello Summit Bikers,

This is a wonderful opportunity to help a blind person enjoy a bike ride in Summit County.  You will be the captain (front rider) on a tandem bike with a stoker (blind person) in the rear.  Two years ago, when I did this, I had never ridden a tandem.  The group Eyecycle gave me a lesson prior to the ride and showed me how easy it is.  On the day of the ride Eyecycle will provide the bikes and the excited participants, ready to experience Summit County.  I chose to ride the rec-path between Frisco and Breckenridge, since this is fairly flat (by Summit County standards).  In late September the crowds were gone so this path is relatively quite.  Eyecycle selected an experience rider and off we went.  Communication was key to doing the ride.  From the start to the finish you need to communicate to your rider.  My rider also asked me to describe things we were ridding past, and this caused me to look at things in a different way.  At the end Eyecycle provides a lunch and you can meet other captains and stokers.  If you are able to support this organization by participating, I think you will find it a rewarding experience.  You can contact Sue at the email below if you need more information.  If you sign up with limited or no experience, just indicate that you need some training.

Ride safe,

John Bowyer

Sunday, Sept.  21st.  Please check your calendars, and if you are available for one or both of these rides, early sign up  will be much appreciated.  The Summit County ride includes a picnic lunch provided by our awesome captain Dan E.  his better half Karen, and Eyecycle.  Thank you amazing captains for all you do for Eyecycle!
